Overview
Despite of many decades of efforts in academia and research to facilitate the management of large IT projects, a high percentage of projects still fail – in terms of budget, timing, delivered functionality and / or because the promised benefits do not materialize.
We have investigated a number of large-scale failures in order to investigate how not only management deficits, but also contextual factors and governance issues affect megaproject success.
In the seminar we will report on insights from assessing a large number of projects, both in terms of quantitative analysis (clusters and patterns) as well as in terms of in-depth case studies. We will also elaborate on governance concepts that do not only promise to better avoid management deficits (project management level), but particularly to improve project governance (steering committee level).
