Arho Virkki works as a mathematician, statistician, software engineer and a project manager in the field of data science. He is especially interested in machine learning, data mining and mathematical modelling for decision support. He has been using Linux for both hobby and work projects since 1999 and finds the Apache Hadoop stack and the traditional modeller's toolbox as a fascinating combination of well-established and brand new technologies which can solve significant real-world problems.
