Xavier Franch is associate professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain). He leads the Software Engineering for Information Systems at the UPC (http://www.essi.upc.edu/~gessi/). Requirements Engineering is one of his main fields of research. He is greatly engaged in the two main international conferences in this area, IEEE RE and REFSQ, belonging to both Steering Committees. He has been General Chair of RE'08, and Program Chair of CAiSE'12, REFSQ'11 and ICCBSS'08. In the topic of the seminar (requirements pattern), he has won one best paper award (RCIS'09), one best poster award (RE'11), given an invited keynote (IFIP WG 2.9, 2009) and tutorials at ICSE'13 and REFSQ'13. He is coordinator of the FP7 STREP project RISCOSS (Managing Risk and Costs in Open Source Software Adoption; Nov. 2012 - Nov. 2015). He is supporting member of the International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB).
