Dr Fernandez is a Professor at the School of Information Systems, Technology and Management at the University of New South Wales Australia. Walter moved into academe after a career managing and implementing innovative information systems in the corporate sector. 

In the last decade, Dr Fernandez has published more than forty peer-reviewed articles in top ranking international conferences and academic outlets such as European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology Case and Application, International Journal of Project Management and The Grounded Theory Review.

Dr Fernandez serves in several international journals as reviewer, associate editor, senior editor and invited editor and Assessor for the Australian Research Council’s College of Experts.
