Alexander Maedche is a full professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. He is Vice Dean of the KIT-Department of Business and Economics (https://www.wiwi.kit.edu/), spokesperson of the Institute for Information Systems (WIN, https://www.win.kit.edu/) and is heading the human-centered systems lab (h-lab, https://h-lab.win.kit.edu/). His research is focusing on designing human-centered systems for better work & life and is positioned at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Systems. Current research topics include biosignal-adaptive systems, companions, agentic enterprise systems, and human-computer co-creation. His work has been published in leading international journals, such as Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ) and Information Systems Research (ISR), and conferences such the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) and the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI). Alexander Maedche received a Diplom degree in industrial engineering & management in 1999 and a PhD in 2001 from the University of Karlsruhe (TH). In the time frame of 2003-2009, he has worked in industry at Bosch and SAP in managerial positions. He became full professor and Chair of Information Systems at the University of Mannheim in their year 2009, where he also founded the Institute for Enterprise Systems (InES). He moved to KIT in the year 2015. He is currently senior editor of the Journal of Association of Information Systems (JAIS), associate editor of the Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), editorial board member of the Journal of Eye Movement Research (JEMR) and section editor of the Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE) journal. He also serves in various roles supporting international research conferences, e.g., as general chair of MuC 2024 and DESRIST 2017.  He actively promotes the delivery of digital innovations and transferring state-of-the-art knowledge to practice and society. He is co-founder of the non-profit organizations UIG e.V.Die Wirtschaftsinformatik e.V. and fair.digital e.V.
