Professor Markku Turunen is the head of the Pervasive Interaction research group, a part of the Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction (TAUCHI) at the Tampere University. His fields of expertise are novel interaction techniques, software architectures for interactive systems, pervasive applications, interfaces for people with special needs, interactive solutions for industrial and healthcare settings, user experience of multimodal interaction and commercialization of research results. He has more than 200 publications in these areas, and has participated in more than 60 national and international funded research projects, including Rural Voice (novel interaction techniques for functionally illiterate users) in collaboration with several Indian partners.
